Partner dance as a container for self-discovery

This is a movement-based workshop that explores how the spontaneity of improvisational partner dance both illuminates and provides access to shifting our inner-narratives about ourselves, others, and our place in the world.

The content is influenced primarily by contact improvisation (aka contact dance) and mindfulness meditation. No previous experience needed; all levels and abilities will are welcome.

We are wired for connection. It is, in fact, a biological imperative. In this workshop, we will explore the somatic experience, and theoretical understanding of connection, disconnection, and repair through movement, partner exercises, and some (but not too much!) lecturing.

During this workshop you will learn about how the nervous system perceives the world and how it learned to do so, the difference between stories and feelings, the importance of “neural reciprocity” in healthy relationships, and the value of play!
